What is a Space
When Should I Use Spaces
How Do I Create and Launch a Space
Click Create a Space in the left menu.
Choose Student learning and your students’ grade level.
Describe in your own words what you want students to do. For example: “A tutor that helps review fractions with step-by-step questions”.
The editor shows your settings on the left and a live student preview on the right. Changes save automatically.
Space details: add a title, subtitle, grade level and cover image (required).
Prompt: write the General instructions for Dot, the students' AI assistant (required).
PowerUps (optional): turn on tools like Document Editor or Image Generator.
Context: add standards and upload files Dot should use.
Test it: chat in Previewing as a student. Try wrong answers too.
When you're ready, click Save and continue.
This page is your Space's home base. From here you can:
Preview & Launch: start a session with your class.
Edit: go back to the editor.
Remix: make a separate copy.
Add to collection: save it in Organize.
Share: send it to other teachers.
Check the My sessions tab to see every time you've launched it.
Click Preview & Launch. Changes here apply only to this session.
Check the Session name and Grade level.
Edit or generate Outcomes (learning goals).
Add Additional session instructions if needed. For example: "Students have 20 minutes."
Click Launch to class, or send it to Google Classroom or Canvas.
After you launch, a join screen opens. Project it for your class.
Students go to schoolai.com/join and enter the code, or scan the QR code.
You can also click Copy join link and share it by email or chat.
The joined counter shows how many students are in.
When everyone is in, click View Mission Control.
Tip: Give students only the join code or link. To share with teachers, use the Share button.
Opn your Space, click Share, and send the link. Then choose who can see it:
Private: only you can view it.
Anyone with the link: they can see, use and remix it.
ublic: anyone can find it in Discover.
Pro plan: In Mission Control, click the three dots (⋮) and choose Add Collaborators to let a colleague monitor your session.
Mission Control shows your students' activity live.
Pause / Resume: stop student activity for a moment, then restart it.
Smart Groups: see students grouped by their needs.
Generate session insights: find misconceptions across the class.
Invite students: show the join code again.
End session: stop students from joining or chatting.
Tip: Closing your browser does NOT end the session. Click End session when you finish.
